I have a passion for reading and want to encourage my students to achieve their goals. I love to teach and work with children of all ages. Most importantly, I want to make my students feel proud of their progress and grow as learners. I believe in giving my students visuals so they can better absorb what they are learning, and become confident enough to seek answers on their own. I feel one of the best ways I can help my students grow is to get their parents involved. I set goals and involve the parent as much as the child, to ensure learning is a success. I have been a teacher for 11 years, working in grades kindergarten, first, third, and fourth, and I have tutored students K-6 in math, reading, and writing. I tutor students in Elementary Math, Reading, Writing, Phonics, Literature, Grammar and Mechanics, ESL/ELL, and English. I also offer summer tutoring, to help students brush up on their skills before school starts.I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Northern Illinois University. My master's degree is from Aurora University, where I became a reading specialist.During my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors and fishing, boating, and working in my garden. I also like to bake and sew.
